If you’re a teacherpreneur, you may be wondering where to start with videos. You’ve heard so much about them, and you know you need to get started.
Maybe you’ve already tried, and you’re just not sure how to use the videos, or you’re not satisfied with the results.
You’re also probably shaking your head and muttering, “now there’s ANOTHER piece of marketing I have to do… on top of everything else!”
While all of this may be true, I’m here to tell you that there’s a way to make your life easier with videos. The answer: a square video for each product (including digital ones!).
Square videos are in a ratio of 1:1 and usually exported at 1000 px X 1000 px. They are extremely versatile, and a perfect tool to promote your awesome resources.
You want to bring a new dimension to your products and really show how amazing they are! Here are a few benefits of having a square video for each product:
1. You can reuse them over and over again for pins
As of right now, video pins (as opposed to still pins) can be reused when they are in “very different” pin templates. If you have a variety of templates ready, just plug the square video into each of them, and you have many pins to choose from! You don’t have to worry about filming a ton of different videos in order to produce “new content.” If you have a digital and printed version of a product, make sure to have a video of both versions!
2. You can pin them straight to Pinterest
Although Pinterest claims that the optimal size for pins is a 2:3 ratio, specifically 1000 px X 1500 px, they say that a 1:1 ratio is great for video pins, too! No need to put the video into a pin if you don’t want to… just upload to Pinterest! (Although I do recommend reusing it and putting it into pins 🙂 )
3. They’re perfect for almost all other social media platforms
If you want to post your product video in your Instagram feed, the 1:1 square is perfect! Just upload, write your description, and post. The square works well for Facebook and Facebook ads, as well. If you’re running an ad, just make sure there isn’t too much text overlay.
4. They can be used as “how-tos”
Do you have a product that you get a lot of questions about? You can upload the square video to Youtube and then embed it into a WordPress blog. From there, you can give a visual explanation about how to use your product! I have also seen some teacher-authors post them in the Facebook groups they run to show teachers how great their product is.
As you can see, having a square video can simplify your video strategy significantly. Since they can be used on almost any platform, as well as used on several different pins, the possibilities are endless!
